Ever encounter the prospect of hooking up with someone new, being so close you could taste it (no pun intended, I think), just to have the opportunity stripped from you because of doubts surrounding your questionable-at-best sexual past? If so, Hula is here to save the day (or night).
Hula is a free app that allows users to share their verified STD status with whomever they want. College students, rejoice. Almost half of us are figuratively allergic to latex and, not so coincidentally, four times as likely as the general population to contract sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia and gonorrhea. Stats like that make it hard to blame the girl you took to that date function for cringing at the idea of letting you get all up in her.
I assume by now you’ve had sufficient flashbacks of nights in which boner jams were fully derailed by either yours or your partner’s fear of waking up to the gift that keeps on giving or the clap, neither of which are as fun as their names suggest. So you’re asking yourself, how soon can I use this Hula voodoo and how does it work?
Download it from the app store.
(Currently available only for iPhone.)
- Use Hula’s test center locator to find the best center for you. Their “uber database” collects and verifies information of about 100 clinics every week. Users can write and post reviews of clinics.
- Get tested and have your provider transmit your records into your secure Hula account. (Tests are time-stamped, allowing your partner to determine whether or not you’re due for another check-up.)
- Unzip your squeaky-clean profile if someone hits you with “no glove, no love.
