Billion Dollar Ideas For A Gainesville Entrepreneur

Anyone from any Major Can Be an Entrepreneur. Here, I’ll show you how; let’s start with people’s needs, and use what you already know to figure out what you don’t know (possible solutions):

1. People Need Extra Income (Education / Liberal Arts Majors) - So start a service where you teach people in the rest of the world business etiquette and other skills: Interview Etiquette, business etiquette, social networking etiquette, dating etiquette, etc.

2. They Need to Pay for Things (Finance Majors) – Heard of the newest digital currency, Bitcoin? Figure out a way to use a digital currency that can’t be devalued by a government by creating a secure, safe system for exchanging digital currencies like BitCoin in local Gainesville shops.

3. They Need Stuff (Engineering Majors) – So bring manufacturing to retired housewives, who can assemble parts from 3D in their own homes and fill orders through Drone flight-package delivery.

4. They Need Healthcare (Biology and Health Science Majors) – New methods of tackling Alzheimer’s. How about a diet app that classifies your food choices by Carcinogens / cancer risk? How about an app that gives you a mild shock every time you engage in a bad impulse like sitting too long (gyroscope) or drinking too much alcohol (determined by body extremity temp)? Think I’m kidding? Massive change requires massive action. People only respond to what feels good or the fear of pain if they don’t change. So make them fear NOT taking action! Zoology Majors: We are struggling for new classes of antibiotics, so why don’t you help us scour our environments for compounds that might help humans ward off disease.

5. People Want to Feel Good (Neuroscience / Psychology Majors) - But drugs are bad.
Find ways to use deep brain stimulation or electronic pulse / magnetism to stimulate the centers of the brain that create or maintain optimal dopamine levels, and we’ll stop having a whole lot less drunk driving, unhealthy drug addiction and ruined lives. Come to think of it, since Parkinson’s stems from a loss of ability to create dopamine, I just solved part of #3 above. Of you did, if you come up with this.

6. They Want Adventure (Marketing / PR / Tourism Majors) – How about the first Google Glass(es) Travel Company? Beam a recorded vacation to their Google Glasses. Or create the first Google Glasses travel guide.

7. They Want Variety (Musicians) – Find a way to make music sound differently each time you listen to it, or do different things based on what you are doing at the time, i.e. the music is a different pace whether you are reading a book, outside, different time of day, etc. here are some ideas: Equalization, Tempo, tone, percussion, subtracting or adding sounds.

8. They Want to Feel Good About Themselves (International Relations / Management Majors) – Create a version of Klout, a reputation score app, for the workplace in which the user is rewarded for virtuous or productive actions. Or for not-for-profits. Or for school. And then figure out how to get Companies / Governments / Charities to reward this behavior with gifts, goods or prestige. This can lead to a much better hiring app or even political system if the scoring system is respected. Want funds for your program? What are your Employees’ Rep Scores? What are your volunteers Social Good Scores? What is your Politician’s Public Interest Score?

The point of this article was to inspire you. The people that are going to solve the problems or create the future ways in which humans eat, interact and live are no better or different than you, top 10 research university attendee. They are just more motivated. So get on it. I want drones to deliver coffee and a bagel to me at my office in the near future while paying for it with my social reputation score from posting to Facebook on a computer made by a 3D printer. Stat. See ya Gainesville
