The Groove Orient is a high-energy, dance-inducing band based out of Orlando, and on Thursday night they are coming to dance with you, Gainesville.

Recently coming off of their spring tour, The Groove Orient has been eagerly grabbing the attention of music devotees and funk finders everywhere.

The infectious sound of TGO, formed by an eclectic group of five passionate musicians, cannot be simplified to one specific genre. The complexity of TGO can be discovered in the multiple layers of their unique sound, encompassing a strong rock n’ roll authority in their composition, while keeping funkiness and grooviness as prevalent themes, as well.

Native to Winter Park, these musicians have had the opportunity to travel to various cities and perform at numerous venues. This has provided a lot of quality experience for such a young, zealous band and has allowed the band to grow collectively.

The Groove Orient is one of the truest testaments of team harmony. Although the band encompasses five unique personalities with each member offering their own original thoughts during different creative process, somehow the final outcome seems to highlight the product created from a single, harmonic unit.

The Groove Orient isn’t an ordinary band, although these five band members are all distinctive in character and diverse in background, their tight-knit chemistry is impossible to deny.

These guys are well on their way of making a name for themselves in this industry, drawing attention from listeners both locally and nationally. The band, said to be the sound of the sunshine state, earned the title of Orlando Weekly’s “Best Experimental Band of 2014” and went on to score a feature in Relix Magazine’s 40th Anniversary issue.

After the release of their breakout EP “Welcome to the Show,” fans eagerly anticipated the release of their second EP “Generation Y,” which was debuted at the House of Blues in Orlando and exceeded all expectations.

While the balanced sound of this diverse group is aesthetically pleasing, that doesn’t necessarily mean it is subtle. An invigorating energy is shared within the equilibrium of The Groove Orients rhythmic sound amongst the five members during their live performances. The bands groove-rock style commands audience members and provides them with an experimental journey through music born right out of the sunshine state.

The Groove Orient is a fusion of collected investigational sound, continuing to develop and stand out among many other rising bands today. And tonight, they are performing in the heart of one of Gainesville’s most infectious venues, The JAM.

The Groove Orient will be performing along with Boston-based, reggae-rock explosion Spiritual Rez and Brooklyn’s Turkuaz. The JAM is set to host a night built on virtuous energy, plentiful dancing and endless talent.
