Organic Vision Presents is teaming up with the JAM to bring the “electro hip-hop soul” sounds of Archnemesis to Gainesville this Friday.
The eclectic jams produced by Archnemesis, otherwise known as Curt Heiny, are difficult to label. In recent interviews, Heiny has stated that he melds the flow of his sets with the vibes he picks up from the crowd. This means that the diverse swarms of music-lovers always present at the JAM can expect to hear anything and everything from old-school dubstep to classical jazz.

Archnemesis has shared the stage with musical heavyweights such as Skrillex and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and is accustomed to performing in prominent musical environments including Hangout Music Festival and Electric Forest. After the recent addition of Archnemesis to the Counterpoint 2015 lineup, the Archnemesis fan base, otherwise known as “Nemesis Army,” is in for a treat to experience a performance within the intimate setting of the JAM.
Heiny’s musical career began with a background in classical cello and jazz. From there Heiny slowly branched into production. Archnemesis was originally launched as a duo in 2009 until Heiny decided to go solo in 2013.
The Archnemesis sound is continuously evolving and encompassing new musical genres into it. Heiny’s most recent EP is a conglomerate of singles and remixes of artists such as Kendrick Lamar and the XX.

The Archnemesis live performance is eminent for its distinct visuals. The crowd can expect frequent glimpses of Heiny’s marvelous afro bobbing behind a sea of mind-boggling lasers. He is fondly remembered for handing out rainbow afros during his last Gainesville performance in March 2014.
Swamp Records’ Bells and Robes will kick off the evening with their electro dreamwave melodies that Gainesville has come to know and love. The duo’s most recent EP “One Should See Sound” embodies the philosophy behind their name, taken from a zen koan that says one should actualize sound and sight into one. A performance by Bells and Robes will provide a musical journey to all who arrive early enough to experience it.
A late night set by RUBY & Friends, featuring Grant McLeod of Flat Land, will commence after Archnemesis.
Friday is an important evening for the JAM, which has now returned after a closing scare last fall. After a lot of hard work from the JAM crew, the venue has since been renovated and is more ready than ever to host artists such as Archnemesis.
Tickets for the event are available at Archnemesis’ website. Doors open at 9 p.m.
