Lollicup: Wonderful Name, Wonderful Tea

I’m just going to admit right off the bat that I’m probably the teenage girl you absolutely hate seeing at Yogurtology.

I typically burst in with five of my BFFs in tow, each of us wearing various oversized t-shirts and Nike shorts (no, we were not at the gym earlier). We’re probably making a huge racket and going nuts over the samples. But I think it’s finally safe to say that froyo is on the outs with teenage females, and that boba tea is the new up and coming dessert of choice. It’s a cold drink made with iced tea, sweetened milk, or other fruity flavorings that comes with tapioca pearls. When I first took a sip, I contemplated spewing the tapioca all over the table – it’s a little invasive at first. But trust me, keep sipping, and next time you’ll find yourself ordering extra boba.

Bubble tea joints are usually located in the most random of strip malls, and Lollicup is no exception. Nestled on 34th street, the shop’s ambiance definitely fits the bill for your typical boba splurge. With large couches, board games, and a clashing color scheme, it’s the perfect place to indulge and relax. Don’t get overwhelmed by the intense menu- I’d recommend starting off with a Royal Milk Tea. Bring as many people as possible for the full teenage girl experience; it may look annoying as hell, but it sure is a good time.

And boys, the more of you there are drinking bubble tea, the more masculine it becomes.
