The GainesvilleScene Interview: Luminox

“Luminox just got taken off stage.”

“What do you mean taken off stage?”

“The cops escorted him out, apparently he’s too drunk to DJ.”

The monstrous trapstyle artist’s debut performance at the University of Florida was cut short on Saturday due to heavy intoxication. Luminox later came out to say he was the victim of a drugging. The Phoenix based producer/DJ responded on Facebook:

My apologies for anybody who came to see me last night in Gainesville // If you don’t know already, some troll roofied me and I wasn’t able to perform … Woke up in the hospital IV’d up. I’m super bummed and kind of humiliated lol. I will be back soon for a make up show. Much luv ya’ll.

He later went on to say the toxicology report came back positive for GHB. His story changes a bit as he later claims a girl he’d never met shoved a lollipop in his mouth. He then continues by stating it was a Fetynal lollipop. The details surrounding it all are rather odd. Its not everyday a DJ gets drugged and can’t perform.

Luminox’s rise as a performer has come rather quickly. He had not performed any live shows a year ago. This year he’ll be at EDC. Quite the jump. His start comes with the new force that is trap music. A blend between EDM and hip hop, it merges two of the biggest genres of music prominent in American culture today.

We were able to catch up with Luminox before his supposed Molotov cocktail of heavy opiates and get his thoughts on trap music and life. Apologies for the random girl in the video. We all thought she was dating Luminox or knew him, but turns out she managed to sneak her way in to the interview and the shot. Damn kids and their date rape drugs… (word is he was drugged before this interview, we’ll let you be the judge of that)
