Why: If ya want to take a break from Rockeys Dueling Piano Bar (where we know you’ll be on a Thursday night) and explore your underground interest for rap.
ARTS + ENTERTAINMENT
UF Film Symposium
Where: Harn Museum of Art
When: Friday, January 29, 4-6 p.m. and Saturday, January 30, 2-6 p.m.
Why: Hosted by graduate students in UF’s Film Studies program, these symposiums play films from around the world accompanied by panel discussions. You can go for the full two days, or stop by for an afternoon. You can browse the full schedule here.
FOOD + DRINK
3rd Anniversary of the Original Gainesville Food Truck Rally
Where: High Dive
When: Saturday, January 30. Event begins at 5 p.m. and band starts at 7 p.m.
Why: Does food served out of trucks feed your foodie soul? Do live local bands make your heart flutter? Does supporting a philanthropy loose your good karma? Not to mention GainesvilleGrub is sponsoring the entire event, so stop by, say hi, and eat till you’re stuffed (then eat some more). BTW, it’s completely free to enter.

Soldering 101
Where: The Repurpose Project (1920 NE 23 Ave)
When: Thursday, January 28 at 6 p.m.
Why:Do you know what soldering is? Do you want to find out? Learn how to melt a filler metal into the joint of items such as power cords or speaker cables to reduce waste and save money!
