The same people that bring you the taco and tequila madness at Cantina and the mimosa-drenched brunches of 101 Downtown have announced a new bar and restaurant called O.A.K.

O.A.K., Original American Kitchen, will feature comfort food and Southern classics, such as short ribs, red eye gravy shrimp, organic grits, bison burgers and a variety of vegan and vegetarian options.

Owned and operated by 101 Management Group, the restaurant is focused on using locally sourced ingredients, organic ingredients and fresh cooking.

To satisfy the thirsty young professionals in the Downtown area, admittance after 10 p.m. will be 21 and up. With 16 self-serve taps for craft beer and two taps for whiskey, patrons will have a chance to consult with bartenders before crafting their own unique whiskey cocktail.

The best part? You have the option of tasting different beers and whiskeys before making a selection, contributing to the free-flowing social atmosphere of the place.

Alcohol tech aside, O.A.K. will also have charging stations for phones, themed events (Yes, you can relive your Greek “social” days.) and community fundraisers.

“We are very excited to bring this unique concept to Downtown Gainesville,” Ryan Prodesky, V.P. Marketing, 101MG said. “As the city continues to grow with entrepreneurs and startups, more venues are needed for dining and entertainment options. O.A.K. will meet these needs with an incredible menu, unique atmosphere and talented live musicians.”

Check out O.A.K.’s Facebook page for updates when they open Downtown at 15 SE 1st Ave.
