BIG Something: Bringing More than Something

Organic Vision Presents will bring this six-piece North Carolina based group of funk rockers to call The JAM their home this Saturday night in Gainesville. This will be their third stop in Florida during their 2015 tour.

Since their latest studio album release “Truth Serum” back in November of last year, the funkadelic troupe has now seen two albums named Album of the Year by Home Grown Music Network with songs “Middle of Nowhere” in 2010 and “Live from Uranus” in 2013.

They have shared the stage with names like The B52’s, Galactic and Robert Randolph and The Family Band and continue to be a highly demanded act for festivals, including their own annual summer festival in their home state.

With front man Nick MacDaniels on guitar and vocals, Doug Marshall on bass, Josh Kagel on keys, synth and trumpet, Casey Cranford on sax and EWI, Jesse Hensley on lead guitar and Ben Vinograd on drums, the six piece space cadets rep the sun, moon and stars with their jam-band style funk/jazz/rock music.

While maintaining a foundation in rock, their heavy melodies are often ornamented with skillful instrumentation and funk/reggae beats that maintain a lighter tone. Topped with tasteful lyrics, the band’s songwriting experience is obvious.

All of these elements harmoniously converge, with the addition of exceptional saxophone styling, to create the live experience that many know as BIG Something.

BIG Something will be opening with Orlando-based Savi Fernandez Band for The Heavy Pets this Saturday, at The JAM. The Heavy Pets will be returning to the JAM yet again, bringing their their reggae-infused rock sound and energetic vibes. With the re-appearance of the beloved Gainesville venue, this is definitely a show worth attending to support the local music scene.

Doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets are available here.

Come find your groove, feel the smooth and don’t lose your moves.
