Wake N Bake with Less Than Jake

Everyone’s favorite holiday is quickly approaching.
It’s not Christmas, not National Pizza Day and not even 4/20. It’s Wake N Bake at High Dive.
Wake N Bake is an annual festival that brings together punk rock and ska legends for a weekend of killer music, good vibes and debauchery of every variety. It’s a time when Gainesville’s own Less Than Jake returns to the 352 to jam on stage, hang with friends and, well, party.
“People fly in from around the world for this. The event further puts Gainesville on the map as a destination for rock shows and a mecca for live music. LTJ is also a very fan friendly act, and they mingle with the fans throughout the weekend,” said Pat Lavery, owner of Glory Days Presents and marketer for High Dive. “Think about it like one of these rock festival cruises where you are ordering a drink at the bar, and a member of the band is chatting next to you.”

Wake N Bake, hosted at High Dive in downtown Gainesville, will open at noon on Saturday for the Less Than Jake Yard Sale and football tailgate and Sunday at 2 PM. Tickets start at $15.
Gainesville natives, Less Than Jake, will headline both Saturday and Sunday night. The band formed twenty years ago and have since released eight studio albums. They focus on giving their fans a perfect experience through constant interaction and creative music.
The Supervillians, performing Saturday night, are a genre-blending band originally from Orlando, Florida. They have toured the U.S. alongside big name bands including Slightly Stoopid, Fishbone and Pepper.
Also playing at Wake N Band are New York natives, Mrs. Skannotto. The current band members have been touring the U.S. almost non-stop for the past four years. They mix ska, reggae, rock and punk with influences from jazz, funk and classic rock. They’re hard to define, but easy to jam out to.

NorCal native, McLars, will be hitting the stage as well. McLars is labeled as one of the pioneers of “nerdcore hip-hop” subgenre. Recently, he’s been educating young people about “lit-hop,” a term he created to underline the relationships between literature, classic poetry and the culture of rap. Other bands playing include: Kash’d Out, The Attack and You Vandal. (You can check out the Facebook event for the full lineup.)
Wake N Bake weekend is a Gainesville tradition that you don’t want to miss. Whether you’re a hardcore ska fan or just looking to party with some cool musicians, let Wake N Bake festival be the soundtrack of your weekend.
