Politics are confusing. With a playing field this big, it’s hard to know where each of the 2016 presidential candidates stands on the issues.

But the choices these rich old people make directly impact the country we live in, so it’s important to be informed when the election rolls around in November of 2016.

That’s where we come in.

No frills, no bias and no bullshit. Just the issues and where each candidate stands.

 

Jim Webb’s Platform

EXPERIENCE: Fought in the Vietnam War and served as a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps; former assistant secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs; former secretary of the Navy; worked as a writer and filmmaker; former senator for Virginia from 2007 to 2013.

ECONOMY
-Wants to cut corporate taxes
-Wants to raise taxes on investments
-Opposes most other tax raises

GOVERNMENT SIZE
-Wants a complete review of the federal budget to make necessary cuts to unnecessary spending
-Promises to work with Republicans to find ways to reduce the national debt

OBAMACARE
-Supports it but wishes that its focus had been narrower

FOREIGN POLICY
-Was a vocal critic of the Iraq War
-Opposes the Iran nuclear deal
-Supports sanctions against Russia for its involvement in Ukraine
-Supports normalization with Cuba

IMMIGRATION
-Supports the DREAM Act
-Likely to support a more comprehensive immigration reform package than he has in the past

SOCIAL ISSUES
-Supports full access for women to abortion clinics

MARRIAGE EQUALITY
-Fully supports it and the recent SCOTUS ruling

CLIMATE CHANGE
-Has expressed support for the Keystone XL Pipeline and for expanded oil drilling on Virginia’s coasts
-Voted in favor of limiting the EPA’s ability to regulate emissions

GUN RIGHTS
-Supports having less gun control laws

MARIJUANA
-Leans toward decriminalization

CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM
-Calls for extensive criminal justice and incarceration reform
-Wants to focus on fixing the disparity of high imprisonment rates for minorities
-Wants to bring more attention to mental illness and addiction
