Trueville Beautifully Blends Music, Skating and Community
Trueville—a day of local music, vendors, art and skate—filled downtown Gainesville with an overwhelming sense of community this past weekend. It was undeniable that there was something for everyone to enjoy at Trueville. The music spanned all genres featuring Twelve’len, The Hails, and many other artists. Other attractions included a skate ramp, food trucks, and vendors from all around our area. This all-day festival at High Dive was a collaboration between Always True Co. and Best of Gainesville.
Not only was I able to spend my Sunday enjoying what Gainesville has to offer, I had the chance to sit down with a team from both of the brands that made this event possible. It’s already impressive to pull off an event with the magnitude of Trueville, but it’s inspiring when you find out the event coordinators are all 20-something-year-olds acting on their dreams. This kind of entrepreneurship is a testament to everything you can accomplish regardless of your age.
Right off the bat, I was curious to know what motivated Always True Co. and Best of Gainesville to come together to create this super-group of creative minds. They collectively agreed that the brands were drawn to work together because of their similar interests.
Additionally, everyone involved wanted to see the Gainesville community come together by doing something that had never been done before. Kevin Masaro, one of the Always True Co. founders, said “We always had this idea of doing something on a bigger scale and bringing the community together in that sense.” One of the other Always True Co. founders, Drew Howard, continued by saying “We want to bring up the Gainesville community because there has never been something like this and there’s never been something that has brought people together in this form…”
We always had this idea of doing something on a bigger scale and bringing the community together in that sense.
Taking on High Dive as a venue was a big step in allowing both companies to host more people than ever before. The collaborative forces of Always True Co. and Best of Gainesville cannot be confined to small spaces when their influence is taking over the community.
After spending the day saturating myself in Trueville, I can say with full confidence that their original mission was accomplished. People from many different walks of life showed up to High Dive to see what the festival was all about. The most striking aspect of the experience, however, was the level of interaction between strangers. Never have I been in a better environment for meeting wonderful new people with such enthusiasm for life. In my eyes, one of the best ways to bring people together is with great music and great food, which is exactly what happened at Trueville.
We want to bring up the Gainesville community because there has never been something like this and there’s never been something that has brought people together in this form…
Trace Rucarean of Best of Gainesville said it best when he said that they wanted to “…set the Fall stage for the city and for both companies.”
Everyone involved in creating Trueville is confident that this is just the beginning of something huge. With more time in the future and the experience of the first event, who knows what Always True Co. and Best of Gainesville will bring to the community next. They are providing an audience for the diverse talent that lives all around us and creating an environment for people to connect.
Keep an eye out for what is to come next because things are only going to get bigger from here. You can find Always True Co. and Best of Gainesville on social media to keep up with what events they will be bringing to Gainesville next.
