UK Rock ‘n’ Roll Band the Struts to Return to High Dive

Every generation has their set of rock ‘n’ roll icons that are the physical embodiment of the genre. Their names are more than a title, but a reputation. Their personas are sensationalized and larger-than-life. Someone came to mind while you were reading that, and a little way down the road, maybe the name that personifies rock in your head will be The Struts.
The Struts, an English glam rock band, will be taking a break from their tour with the Foo Fighters for a show at High Dive on April 24. This show, brought to you by Glory Days Presents, will feature opening act Mona and promises to pack the house for an unforgettable night.
Doors for the show will open at 7 p.m. and the performances will begin at 9 p.m. Based on the fact that the band sold out the venue back in 2016, I’d be willing to bet that there will be a line outside early in the evening.
Their last appearance in Gainesville attracted people from across the state of Florida. Since then, the band’s tantalizing grip on the modern rock genre has been like a tightening fist; fans are left entranced and intoxicated by the music, wanting more.
Gainesville might seem like an odd deviation from the band’s tour route, but maybe it isn’t as strange as you would think. The people of this city are fiercely passionate when it comes to supporting all types of creative expression.
“It doesn’t matter what city it is. As long as the fans come to have a great time and let themselves go, we will keep coming back,” said lead singer Luke Spiller.
Unarguably, a setting like High Dive requires a different approach to performance style than some of the arenas The Struts have been playing.
Spiller shared that when they are opening for the Foo Fighters, it is their responsibility to get the crowd energized for the rest of the night and to win over potential fans. When they are headlining their own shows, the group can be a little more relaxed and self-indulged.

Touring with one of the most prominent bands of our time provides a constant opportunity to learn from the royalty of the rock world.
“Those guys work their arses off,” Spiller said about the Foo Fighters. “Watching them play three hours a night is very inspiring. To get to their dizzy heights of fame would be great.”
The Struts are getting ready to release their second album in the near future. The lead singer said that they’ll have either 13 or 14 new tracks for their fans who have been so patiently waiting. This album was difficult for them because everything needed to be perfect, but Spiller feels like it is a very strong musical offering to the world.
I remember my first encounter with The Struts’ music back in my senior year of high school right before graduation. I’d drive around in my wonderfully junky first car, my best friend in the passenger seat, blasting “Could Have Been Me” over my mediocre stereo.
The song’s message of saying “screw it” and just going for it was our anthem for being so young and reaching that threshold for freedom.
Spiller hit the nail right on the head when he said he hopes their music evokes the spirit of adventure and self-discovery in their listeners.
“I know music has helped shape who I am today and I would love for the music to have the same effect,” he said.
Following their anticipated show in Gainesville, The Struts are headed to Tampa to play at the Mid-Florida Credit Union Amphitheatre.
