Ending the Semester with Swamp Records’ Sixth Annual Showcase

Back in elementary school, we always had those end-of-the-year parties where someone’s mom brought in cupcakes and we made a craft. Pretty much the best day of the year in our young lives, right? In college, we have the grown-up version of that for the music kids… Swamp Records Showcase.
The music festival will be taking place Thursday, April 25 from 6 p.m to 12 a.m. at Heartwood Soundstage. It boasts a stacked lineup across two stages, plus some of our favorite local vendors. Tickets are available for purchase here.
At the end of every school year, the student-run record label Swamp Records puts on an event to showcase its signed artists, as well as feature other out-of-town favorites. For the sixth annual lineup, we will be hearing from Jet Black Alley Cat, Hardcastle, flipturn, The Forum, Driveaway, Glass House Point, Runner’s High and Laney.
Local brews will be served up all night by the Heartwood bartenders, alongside food from Soul Spice and Dank Cakes. The event will also house pop-ups from local lifestyle brand Always True and the sustainability group Unlitter. The overall synopsis: you will have everything you could possibly need while listening to some music.
So, let’s break down this lineup.
Jet Black Alley Cat and Hardcastle, both from Nashville and both currently co-headlining a tour, are taking a slight detour to come to Florida. Since the bands are currently on the road together, their pop-rock sounds compliment each other perfectly and will be a great addition to the Showcase bill. With that said, I think it’s on us to show them a good time in the Gainesville music scene.
Flipturn and The Forum both hold residency on the Swamp Records roster and are familiar names ‘round these parts. Driveaway, Glass House Point, Runner’s High and Laney all represent different areas of the beloved Florida indie scene. Many different styles and fan bases will have the chance to unite for a single event.
Bringing all these names to one venue for the night is nothing short of music scene sorcery. And to top it off, the event is executed by a team of students with an inclination to work within the music industry.
To keep things easy for you, Swamp Records has already put together a curated Spotify playlist to help you get to know the 2019 Swamp Showcase performers.
