If you had one Gainesville wish from a genie, what would it be? For Tom Petty to put on a free, hometown show and invite me on stage during “American Girl” to provide the backup “Make it last all night” vocals.

Best concert you’ve been to in Gainesville? Madeon. Would have been Datsik, but the cops were too scared the crowd was going to get sucked into an alternate universe through the vortex.

Favorite Gainesville Bar? Wherever there’s a significant crowd, but it’s not too packed, and “Don’t Stop Believing” and “Wagon Wheel” are playing on repeat.

If you only had one last meal in Gainesville, where and what would you eat? A double tasty with cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, jalapenos, pineapple and chipotle sauce from Relish and a Starburst smoothie from Tropical Smoothie.

Favorite Gainesville Guilty Pleasure: Telling my friends I can’t go out because I need to study and then spending the night watching Spongebob Squarepants.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Doing push-ups and sit-ups in a dance circle at a buddy’s wedding reception.

Robotic Pirate Monkey Invades Gainesville for Booty Snatch Tour

Last week, Boulder-based electronic group Robotic Pirate Monkey treated Gainesville fans to a hell of a time when they played at The Jam on Thursday for their Booty Snatch tour named after their recently released EP.

The group has been touring since the beginning of March and will finish their tour in May before the beginning of the festival season.

I spent the majority of the night with Andrew Hathaway and Matt Berryhill, two of the three members of the group (The third member, also Matt Flesher, was not able to make it due to graduate studies).

St. Patty's Day At The Jam

In a town where 99 percent of the concerts I go to involve nothing but a mixing deck and a laptop, it was refreshing to see music that emphasized instrumentation and improvisation. It was refreshing to be blown away by a group of humans rather than a machine.
