Brewlympics: Your Humble Wood Bites and First Magnitude Brews

We know; pizza and beer isn’t a revolutionary combination. What truly packs a punch as summer’s start surprises us is the taste of our town’s best and various food and drink harbored in one spot.
The Inaugural Brewlympics & Creative Bash this Sunday will bring the best opportunity in pairing up your favorites: First Magnitude and Humble Wood Fire.
Check out our curation of combined brews and pies that are sure to hit the spot this weekend, courtesy of our friends at Humble Wood Fire and First Magnitude.
Margherita Pizza + Drift English Mild
Wash down some tangy sauce and thick mozzarella with a Drift at the brewery. The nuttiness of the ale in one hand paired with a loaded slice in the other makes it easy to relax all afternoon.
Funghi Pizza + Ursa IPA

Funghi Pizza is best known for being a favorite among vegans and carnivores alike, via Humble Wood Fire Pizza
Humble Wood really takes the pie when it comes to making a name. This vegan option made of coconut and cashew Alfredo sauce comes with white-wine sautéed mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and thyme. While it’s available to all kinds of eaters, the best brew for this powerful bite would be an Ursa for its smoothness, equal strength.
Greek + 72 Pale Ale
Two classic tastes (and town favorites) are bound to keep you wanting more. When bitter olives meet some sweet golden beer, there’s no going back. Try the Greek with a Karst to balance that wheat flavor you may miss among all the feta.
Plain Jane/Pepperoni + Saltwater Intrusion
Your trust for the most familiar eats will not falter when it comes to pairing it with a classic wheat beer. Make the most of Sunday’s beer pong and while you chill with this slice.
Look, we’re not saying we know what’s best for you, but we’re also not not saying that. We just know we like food, beer and great company–startup companies, if you will.
At the least, have a glass of fresh kombucha and enjoy live mural-painting with some local bands like Locochino, Retrolux and more this Sunday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at First Magnitude. We also highly recommend the Greek pizza.
