CONFLUENCE Celebrates Two Local Artists

On the surface, summer in Gainesville can feel like a desolate place devoid of creative life, but the art scene continues to flourish.
Two of Gainesville’s respected artists, Lennie Kesl and Jesse Aaron, will be featured in CONFLUENCE:: LENNIE & JESSE, an upcoming double exhibition at the Thomas Center.
Within CONFLUENCE:: LENNIE & JESSE, THE FACES OF KESL exhibits drawings by the late artist. He was also known as a musician and a teacher, and this show commemorates his 90th birthday. Kesl’s portion of the exhibit also includes photographs of him by his daughter, Charlotte Kesl.
TREE OF LIFE The Work of Jesse Aaron, viewed in the Thomas Center’s Main Gallery, will display Aaron’s wooden sculptures. He started his artistic career at 81 years old, saying he was called by God to carve wood.
The exhibitions open in the Thomas Center Main and Mezzanine Galleries on Friday, May 27 from 7 to 10 p.m. They will be on display until September 20.
