MUSIC + NIGHTLIFE
The Savants of Soul, Mighty Mongo and The Throws
Where: The Atlantic
When: Saturday, January 16th. Doors open at 9 p.m.
Why: You can’t help but dance to the soulful sounds of The Savants of Soul. Plus it’s a chance to support Gainesville’s funky music scene.
ARTS + ENTERTAINMENT
Breathe
Who: Written and performed by Brennen Reeves, his solo show is presented by College of the Arts & College of Public Health & Health Professions
Where: Phillip’s Center
When: January 16th at 7:30 PM and January 17th at 2 PM
Why: Reeves uses performance to creatively tell his story of living with cystic fibrosis and getting a double lung transplant. Called “funny” and “inspiring,” his show was a favorite at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival.
FOOD + DRINK
Union Street Farmers Market
Where: SW 1st Avenue and SW 1st Street
When: Wednesday from 4 – 7 p.m.
Why: Care about supporting local businesses AND have a tendency to sample everything in sight? This is for you.
NATURE
Wildlife Walk on Cones Dike
Where: Cone’s Dike Trail, Payne’s Prairie
When: Saturday, January 16th at 11 a.m.
Why: Alligators, horses and bison, oh my!
