Politics are confusing. With a playing field this big, it’s hard to know where each of the 2016 presidential candidates stands on the issues.
But the choices these rich old people make directly impact the country we live in, so it’s important to be informed when the election rolls around in November of 2016.

EXPERIENCE: former member of the Ohio Senate from 1979 to1982; former Republican representative for the U.S. House of Representatives; worked in the private sector including time as a Fox News host; current Republican governor of Ohio
ECONOMY
-Wants to cut income and corporate taxes while closing tax loopholes
-Wants to increase consumption taxes
-Wants to end certain corporate tax breaks
-Willing to try to limit union powers
-Calls for cuts to entitlement programs
GOVERNMENT SIZE
-Supports the Common Core State Standard Initiative but wants to cut education spending
-Cut Planned Parenthood funding as governor of Ohio
-Supports making cuts to Defense appropriations spending
OBAMACARE
-Wants to keep the Medicare expansion portion of Obamacare but wants to repeal and replace the rest of it
FOREIGN POLICY
-Stated that he was concerned about the Iran nuclear deal but is not explicitly for or against it
-Believes that the U.S. will eventually need to deploy troops to deal with ISIS
IMMIGRATION
-Believes that illegal immigrants who otherwise follow the law should be given a chance for legal status
-He prefers a legal status that doesn’t lead to citizenship for illegal immigrants, but he is willing to compromise on that issue to bring immigration reform to the U.S.
SOCIAL ISSUES
-As governor, he signed a bill banning most abortions after 20 weeks with exceptions if the mother’s life is in danger
MARRIAGE EQUALITY
-Accepts that SCOTUS has ruled and that the U.S. should move on but personally opposes it
CLIMATE CHANGE
-Acknowledges that climate change is real
-Believes that the EPA should not regulate emissions and should leave that to the states and private industries to handle
GUN RIGHTS
-History of supporting some gun control laws
MARIJUANA
-Opposes legalization but willing to let states make their own laws on the matter
CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM
-Favors a strong agenda on criminal justice reform
-As governor, he passed bills making it easier for ex-felons to get work and allowing people convicted of nonviolent crimes to seek rehabilitation instead of prison
-Believes that there are way too many mentally ill in prison and wants to increase treatment for these individuals instead of jailing them
