The Hunt: Trendy, Tried and True

My instinctual term of choice for describing my everyday style is “lesbian chic.” That label is typically received with a look of confusion or a laugh, but really, is there a better way to describe a steady diet of fitted button-downs, jeans and brogues/loafers?

Admittedly, my go-to wardrobe is slightly reminiscent of Fran Lebowitz. However, I’d be lying if I said I’m always on a mission to repel the opposite sex with my sartorial choices. I find satisfaction in piecing together the occasional Tumblr-worthy outfit from my daydreams just as much as the next girl.

On those days when I’m feeling fancy, free and fashion-inspired, Alexa Chung, Kate Bosworth and Sienna Miller (circa 1992) are my fashion muses. But damn, do those women wear obscure, expensive brands and priceless vintage finds. Tracking down the different pieces and accessories of their casually cool out-to-lunch outfits — those perfect ensembles that whisper, “Look at me, but don’t look at me” — requires approximately ten times the effort than what actually creating them took.

Emulating fashion icons’ personal style is, unfortunately, easier said than done. So what’s an outfit envy-stricken girl to do? Simply wander through life without a clue as to where to find the boyfriend jeans Chrissy Teigen was wearing in her last Instagram?

The Hunt makes it so you don’t have to.

The Hunt serves the greater purpose of sourcing the outfit of your dreams by giving you access to a fashion-forward online community that shares a common goal: finding that next perfect outfit. tumblr_mcy1zoAicd1rd5fsbo1_500

With its iPhone app and website, The Hunt allows you to conveniently source, purchase and, most importantly, rock the shit out of those Jeffrey Campbells you’ve been pining over.

And speaking of pining… What about pinning?

How many times have you been innocently surfing Pinterest only to stumble upon the perfect sundress-and-boots combo for the first football game of the semester? You hover over the link and whip out your debit card faster than your scholarship check can clear, but alas, disappointment awaits you. The Pinterest link is broken, thus leaving you with a mystery Tumblr photo and a mental snapshot of what could have been your trendiest fall Instagram to date.

We’ve all felt that pang of outfit envy. The Hunt eases that pain. It allows users to post photos of an item they’re coveting in the hopes that a fellow “hunter” will identify its brand, source or a close alternative. And with over 2 million users already registered, The Hunt is a breeding ground of style prowess.

Shopping mysteries are solved. Fashion karma is subtly exchanged. The Hunt is a win-win situation that is the solution to your fashion woes.

All it takes to get started is a few clicks and your Facebook login information. Don’t have a Facebook account? Just enter in your email address, instead, and you’re good to go. (Also, kudos on not succumbing to social media temptations.)

Once you’re logged in, you can “start a hunt” and come one step closer to purchasing that perfect pair of heeled booties you spotted in Elle this month. You could also browse other users’ hunts and follow those that pique your interest or lend a helping hand to a fellow fashion junkie.

With its easy-on-the-eyes and user-friendly interface, The Hunt is solving shopping enigmas and curing outfit envy like never before.

Your closet is waiting. Get in on the action by downloading The Hunt app on your iPhone or visiting thehunt.com.
