In today’s ever-changing technological landscape, music lovers are always searching for the most modern way to amplify their audio, bump their beats and store their songs.
As the market for stylish and bass-boosting electronics thrives, improvements and innovations are being made each and every day. In all reality, an iPhone or MP3 player can only store so much, and constantly deleting data to make room for music is tedious. If you stream everything with apps like Spotify or Pandora, you’re probably racking up a hefty phone bill. Data overages are definitely no laughing matter. And Let’s not forget that feeling of dread when you realize you left your iPod in your other pants or when your tangled headphone cord causes your screen to crack on the concrete.

While Beats by Dre seemingly dominate the headphone industry, a college startup company has created a more affordable, cordless, storage-friendly product that suits an active, contemporary lifestyle.
Spearheaded by musician and physicist Tim Noe, Blue House Records began at Duke University, in none other than a — drumroll — blue house!
With the mission of producing and distributing excellent music in mind, Noe and his comrades founded Blue House Records after graduating from Duke in August of 2013. Focusing primarily on hip-hop infused with electronic rhythms, Noe refers to his label’s genre as “quite often turning into a meditative trance with a head-bobbing groove.” Originally possessing a ample supply of quality sound, Blue House Records decided to remove the redundancy and raise their distribution to a whole new level.

Where it all started…
The Blue House headphones are entirely self-supporting, needing only an internal secure digital (SD) card to play your favorite tunes. There is no cord, no additional device, and no streaming necessary. According to Noe, “the interchangeable SD card allows for easy transition between playlists and albums, and there is no need to plug in or connect to anything. Currently, Blue House is in negotiations with large retail chains to get mp3 headphones into stores around the country.”
Whether you are a fitness enthusiast, commuter or just an avid music listener, Blue House’s hands-free technology will improve the way you experience your sound. The device comes with a four GB SD card, which hold up to roughly 25 hours of music. You can buy additional cards, which range from $3 to upwards of $50, depending on its memory.
The rechargeable battery allows for more than nine hours of listening time. Additionally, its over-the-ear design improves reception and is safer for the eardrum than ear buds.
The headphones can plug directly into speakers and double as an MP3 player when necessary. They can even pick up radio signals.
Friends can also plug into your set and tune in to the same song. There is no doubt that Blue House founders learned early on that sharing is caring.

With the dual purpose of retailing products and producing and distributing music as a record label, the brand Blue House encompasses a variety of musical niches. Designed for maximum portability and sound quality, Blue House Headphones will continue to enhance their products while simultaneously expanding its collection of signed musicians. Blue House currently represents acts such as TnoE, Willie Mammoth, ShuriKen and BennyM, who are inspired largely by hip-hop. Although their lyrics are often expressed as rap, their synths are self-produced instead of sampled from other artists.
Blue House Headphones are set to retail at roughly a quarter of the price of Dre Beats, making it a reasonable alternative for those of us who aren’t slumbering each night on piles of cash.

“Many headphones on the market today have an incredibly large price tag … and many of these sound exactly the same as lower-priced headphones. Trust us. We make music for a living. Blue House intends to stop this nonsense, and return proper value back to the consumer. With today’s technology, a wire should not be required to listen to music,” Noe said.
Amen, sir.
