The moment so many of us triangle-fixated junkies have been anticipating is approaching at last: Our adored English indie rock band, alt-J, has finally announced the release of their new album “This Is All Yours.”
Almost two full years since they plunged their way into our music library with “An Awesome Wave,” alt-J is ready to once again flood our music-obsessed ears with their unique, inimitable sound. alt-J announced their very first full length North American tour back in 2012, crafting a pretty ubiquitous mark in the music scene. The English bred modern rock band made their way to the forefront after a series of mind-blowing live performances at widespread music festivals like Lollapalooza, South By Southwest, Governors Ball, Bonnaroo and other prevalent festivals throughout 2013.
alt-J’s first Mercury Prize-winning debut album “An Awesome Wave,” released back in 2012, stole the symphonic hearts of many and the band seemed to feel no fear jumping into a fresh second album after a favorably unexpected success of their first album drop.

Keyboardist Gus Unger-Hamilton expressed to Rolling Stone back in September that “there’s no pressure” and the band would “take a bit of breathing time” between the seams of their debut album and touring to recover and settle in before the launch of recording their second album. After attempting to write a tad while on the road, he admitted to Rolling Stone that it wasn’t ideal for the band at the time. He explained, “We’d all rather wait ’til we’re back in one city and able to do it like we did it before. We don’t have too much pressure coming from anybody except the fans who want a new album.” Well, here we are a year later and now that a new album drop has been officially declared, the anticipation is relentless.
In January heartbreak struck the alt-J world as news surfaced claiming that founding guitarist and bassist Gwil Sainsbury had departed from the band. However, since then alt-J has evolved into a trio and developed an entirely new 13-track album to be released on September 22. Fans and critics are on their toes for the follow-up album as high expectations trail the fuss of “An Awesome Wave,” and countless are even further intrigued to hear the band’s new sound succeeding the detraction of beloved Gwil.

In addition to the fresh album drop, alt-J has also announced new tour dates in support of the new record. The present day rock band will be boarding a tour through Europe and North America and tickets will begin sale on June 13. Unfortunately alt-J will not be making their way to Florida for the 2014 tour according to the released tour dates, so any plans for a quick trip to a live alt-J performance this season may transform into a full-fledged journey to another state for the full experience.
Just like “An Awesome Wave,” it can be assumed that “This Is All Yours” will be crafted in perfect alt-J cryptic fashion with arbitrary phrases and bizarre lyrics. However, what more could any triangle-devotee desire from the unfathomable alt-J?
The tracklist for the soon to-be-released album has also been affirmed with a sneak peak at some crisp, innovative, “This Is All Yours” album art.
