If you’ve been living under the potato-shaped rock in Turlington during your time here at UF, Gator Growl is a University of Florida tradition that will be put on for it’s 91st year this coming October. Yes, 91 freaking years.
Gator growl is renowned for bringing in performers such as Robin Williams, Dane Cook, Bob Hope, Bill Cosby and other household names. As of 6 p.m. today, the official press release for UF Homecoming & Gator Growl was released with full support from Gator Growl Producer, Devin McDaniel, and Homecoming General Chairman, Evan Schauder.
GainesvilleScene has the inside scoop on the Growl.
Where?
For the first time in the recent history, the venue for the show has been switched from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium to Flavet Field. With this change in venue comes endless opportunities for the show and lends itself to fixing the problem students have been complaining about for years: the stage is just too far away. With the venue change, students will be able to experience the talent (as well as the rest of the show) up close and personal. Growl gets to amp up the show without downsizing the attendance quota.
What?
With a brand new change in venue comes a brand new UF Homecoming & Gator Growl theme: Limitless. This year’s show is tailored to the tastes of the student body, meaning it will be rated PG-13/R. While esteemed alumni and children are still welcomed to attend, the show will be geared towards the young, wild and free.
Talent?
No talent has been released yet, but with the new venue and an inspired team, be on the lookout for new UF Homecoming & Gator Growl updates by following them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Stay tuned and Go Gata! The Final Four is looming.
