The original Common Ground final show has turned into an annual event! This weekend at the High Dive come see some of the best bands Gainesville has to offer. The two day Summer Jam tickets are going for 7 dollars each, but we’re running a ticket give away to help one lucky reader out. Share our Facebook post for a chance to win tickets!

We were able to catch up with Captain Lovely and ask them a few questions about life and the festival. They’ll be headlining Friday night.

GS: So tell me a little about your band…  All the members and their role, where you guys are from, how you guys formed?

Captain Lovely: Captain lovely is a soulful Jam/ funk band. We formed our band in the summer of 2012 and played our first show af the bo didly for Pride 2012. There are six members..lead vocal me, keys joe revelli, jon Josephson on guitar, josh on drum, chris onour  bass, and meg Taylor on sax. Our band came all togather with a jam session and an eager soul singer needing a sick band.

GS: Who are your influences?

Captain Lovely: We are influenced by Daft Punk, Metors, Phish, Led Zeppelin, and a lot of other musicians.

GS: What was your favorite show you’ve ever played in Gainesville?

Captain Lovely: Our favorite shows were 1982 Gator Stompin and The Main Squeeze show at the Jam.

GS: If you had one word to describe what the Gainesville fans should expect on Friday, what would it be?

Captain Lovely: One word for Friday would be Eargasm.
