Of Montreal Comes Back for More
from Sol Cat to Manchester Orchestra, Gainesville has been known to host some pretty awesome indie rock concerts. This Wednesday is no exception. Of Montreal is coming back to High Dive and they’re bringing their friends Pillar Point.
The headlining band, hailing from Athens, Georgia, has been categorized into a handful of genres including (but not limited to): experimental pop, psychedelic pop, glam rock, indie rock, alternative country and disco.
Lead singer Kevin Barnes stole Gainesville’s heart with his outrageous outfits and wild energy last time they played here. The band reflected the same spirit and killed it on stage.
However, this is not just about the great music that these guys are able to produce. The visuals during their sets will blow your mind. If you’re not on drugs when you watch them perform, you sure will feel like it… and only in the best way possible.
Last year, the stage looked like a giant art installation with background dancers wearing glowing masks and laser beams shooting in every direction. This is not your typical try-hard rave from Midtown; this is a masterpiece.
If you have never heard any of of Montreal’s songs, don’t worry – we won’t tell anyone. You’ll want to listen to “Gronlandic Edit,” “Wrath Pinned to the Mist and Other Games” and “Suffer For Fashion.”
Make sure you’re at High Dive this Wednesday around 8:00 p.m. when the doors open. Tickets are on sale now ranging from $18-20. We suggest buying tickets online beforehand because this show will most likely sell out.
See ya there!
