John Kadlecik Brings the Funk and the Fun
The John Kadlecik Band brings the heat to Gainesville on Saturday, February 6th finishing up a five-night Florida run at the High Dive. With an undeniably uplifting sound, the band presents an exciting, unpredictable performance that will surely have you jumpin’, swingin’ and FaceTiming the cool aunt who first got you listening to The Grateful Dead.
Rooted out of Washington D.C., the John Kadlecik Band formed in 2010. Their relentless ambition and extraordinary talent have paved a road for huge success. In their relatively short career, these guys have taken their talents to Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado, headlined two nights at Interlocken Festival in Virgina, and the World Cafe in Philadelphia.
John Kadlecik’s career speaks for itself. He co-founded the Dark Star Orchestra in 1997, which would go on to be the largest and most acknowledged Grateful Dead tribute band. After disbanded from DSO in 2009, he redirected his attention to play lead guitar in Furthur, a super group featuring legends Bob Weir and Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead. John K has certainly engraved his name in the jam scene, noted on his ability to emulate the stylistic playing of Jerry Garcia; he’s been called a rock legend and one of the top improvisational guitarists.
The John Kadlecik Band live show is truly something special, entwining elements of deep blues, energetic funk, rock’n’roll, psychedelia, improv and flat out good feels to create an exuberant experience. The band’s live repertoire is immense, ranging from originals, to the best of Bob Dylan, Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia Band, J.J Cale, Phish, Eric Clapton, and many more.
